On 25 June 2017, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies, visited the Eco-City as part of his five-day visit to China.
Innovative path towards sustainability – SSTEC holds the Sixth Varsity "Eco-Innovation · Green Action" Competition
2017 National Varsity "Eco-Innovation · Green Action" Competition Finals and Awards Ceremony was held on 20 May 2017. As the signature annual event of the Eco-City, it is co-organised by SSTEC and Beijing Peter Drucker Academy. The competition encourages social and technological innovation in environmental protection and promotes environmentally sustainable lifestyles among university students. After intense competition, the winning entry came from Northeastern University at Qinhuangdao on high reflective coloured thermal insulation material.
Eco-City welcomes the Dragon Boat Festival in a joyous setting – The opening of the 5th Shengheng Bazaar and Car Boot Sale
On 20 May 2017, For the upcoming traditional Dragon Boat Festival, SSTEC’s wholly-owned property management arm, Shengheng organised the 5th Shengheng Bazaar and Car Boot Sale at the EBP in the Eco-City. The event saw some 1,000 visitors indulging in the festive shopping and performances. This event creates buzz for the residents and workers in the Eco-City, fostering social cohesion.

Over the years, the World Environment Day is an opportunity for SSTEC to raise awareness on positive environmental actions in the Eco-City community. On 5 June 2017, SSTEC has reached out to the pre-schoolers as well as the employees in the EBP in a series of environmental activities.

26 Jun 2017, The Straits Times carried a prominent report with photo on DPM Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s visit to the Eco-City. It noted SSTEC’s CEO Mr Tay Lim Heng saying that the Eco-City has a 70,000-strong population, and over 27,000, or 90%, of its apartments have been sold.

13 May 2017, Xinhua Net noted that on the eve of the visit to attend the "Belt and Road" Forum for International Cooperation that would be held in Beijing from 14 May to 15 May, Lawrence Wong, Minister for Singapore Ministry of National Development and Second Minister for Ministry of Finance accepted an exclusive interview with Xinhua Net on Singapore’s role in "Belt and Road" and the relations between China and Signapore.

Enjoy a Different Summer at a Bingsu café "Bing Bing jiang"
Attention! There is another commercial complex – Eco-Hall–in the Eco-City. Located at the junction of Heyun Road and Hefeng Road, this complex brings together all types of businesses such as dining and entertainment. After being operational for a while, a variety of stores have opened here – a place for everyone to explore. Bing Bing Jiang, a bingsu café at the corner of the second floor, is refreshing during this hot summer.
